Juveniles United with Motivation to Promote Self-esteem, Talents, Academics, Recreation, and Teamwork.

Project JUMPSTART recognizes and respects the uniqueness of each child. The school’s primary mission is to foster a love of learning in each student. Our curriculum skillfully weaves artistic and practical disciplines into everyday academics. Students learn to follow their curiosity, to think creatively, and to work both independently in cooperatively with others. At Project JUMPSTART we celebrate diversity and strive to instill integrity, compassion, and confidence in each child. We give each student the support and encouragement to become their own unique self.

The purpose and mission of Project JUMPSTART is to invest ourselves in the lives of use in order to bring about positive change in their lives. We strive to give youth a greater hope and a brighter future by providing positive role models for them to follow, relationships built on trust and acceptance, and friendships that will lift up and motivate. Our mission is based upon the overall development of young adults and intensive follow up to ensure that deficient areas areas in education are addressed.

What We Offer

A safe and strong learning environment

  • Tutoring available to Moberly Public Schools students in grades 1st - 8th

  • Tuesday & Thursday from 5 - 6:30 p.m.

  • License by State and Federal agencies

  • 501(c)(3) non-profit organization

  • Staffed by local volunteers

  • Located in a HUD-donated location at the Moberly Housing Authority

  • Closely aligned with Moberly Public Schools

  • Title one reading materials and equipment

  • Hooked on Phonics program

Your Support Network

As a participant of Project JUMPSTART, you and your child will receive a valuable support network for educational advancement. Services provided at no cost to participating individuals.

 

  1. All participants are carefully selected and placed with an approved mentor.

  2. All volunteer mentors are required to complete personal profiles, and are subject to any background checks including both felony and misdemeanor offenses.

  3. The parent reserves the right to change their child’s mentor, or discontinue activities at any time. A written request is required.

  4. All parents are required to complete a release of information for Moberly Public Schools for the sole purpose of obtaining participant educational progress and identifying areas of improvement.

  5. Project JUMPSTART volunteers mentors may function as a liaison between the participant and Moberly Public Schools if written request is provided by parent or legal guardian. JUMPSTART mentors work within all establish rules, regulations, and guidelines is dictated by school policies and procedures. JUMPSTART mentors may be requested by school officials to provide supplemental information concerning a student's educational progress, activities, or disciplinary actions. Proper release must be completed.

  6. All Project JUMPSTART records are kept strictly confidential in accordance with the Privacy Act and cannot be discussed or duplicated. Any agency, organization, individual, public or private entity, real or implied must submit a request for release of records. Project JUMPSTART reserves the right to refuse any information request unless otherwise instructed through legal means.

You can make a difference as a volunteer!

Are you ready to help students succeed? Project JUMPSTART needs you as a tutor! Adults or students (this is a great place for A+ volunteer hours) are welcome to spend 1.5 hours, for two days a week. We appreciate your help!
Tutoring can be listening to students read and then discussing the material, assisting students with math problems, or observing them doing homework from school on their Chromebooks.
For over 24 years, Project JUMPSTART has helped young students achieve their goals. Join us this semester!
